How it works

The AC condenser sits at the front of the vehicle, usually just ahead of the radiator. Hot, high-pressure refrigerant gas from the compressor flows through its tubes, and airflow across the fins pulls heat out of it. As it cools, the refrigerant condenses from a gas into a liquid, ready to expand and chill the cabin air at the evaporator. A blocked or leaking condenser leaves the AC blowing warm, so it must be matched to the vehicle and the system re-gassed after fitting.
