Your engine’s drive belts (fan belt, V-belt, serpentine belt) power critical accessories: alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor and water pump. A broken belt means your battery dies, steering gets heavy, AC stops working — and your engine may overheat. It’s one of the most preventable roadside breakdowns there is.

Belt Replacement Intervals

V-belt / Fan belt — inspect every 20,000 km, replace at first signs of cracking or glazing
Serpentine belt — replace every 60,000–100,000 km or per manufacturer schedule
Timing belt — replace exactly per manufacturer interval (failure = engine damage)
